Учетчка нефти в Мексиканском заливе.
Помощник президента США Барака Обамы по энергетике и климатическим изменениям Кэрол Браунер (Carol Browner) в воскресенье заявила, что утечку нефти в Мексиканском заливе, возможно, не удастся остановить до августа, сообщает агентство Рейтер.
Находившаяся под управлением BP платформа Deepwater Horizon затонула у побережья штата Луизиана 22 апреля после 36-часового пожара, последовавшего за мощным взрывом. Утечка нефти, которая началась следом, уже нанесла ущерб штатам Луизиана, Алабама, Миссисипи и грозит региону экологической катастрофой.
"Правительство США готовится к худшему", - заявила Браунер в интервью телеканалу CBS.
К августу BP планирует завершить бурение новой скважины, с помощью которой удастся перекрыть утечку, сообщил в воскресенье управляющий директор компании Боб Дадли (Bob Dudley). Завершение работ по созданию специальной скважины станет "финальной точкой" в усилиях по борьбе с утечкой, отметил Дадли.
В воскресенье директор по производству и технологиям компании ВР Дуг Саттлз (Doug Suttles) заявил, что операция по заливу тяжелой технологической жидкости в аварийную скважину нефтяной компании ВР в Мексиканском заливе с целью предотвращения дальнейшей утечки сырья не привела к желаемому результату. Компания приняла решение предпринять еще одну попытку.
Узнав, что проводившаяся компанией ВР операция провалилась, Браунер назвала утечку нефти из скважины в Мексиканском заливе "экологической катастрофой".
На ликвидацию аварии компании BP уже потратила 760 миллионов долларов, включая расходы на сбор нефти, остановку утечки и бурение дополнительной скважины, а также компенсации и возмещение ущерба.

Ну чо люди мутят порой. Скорее бы переходили на альтернативные источники энергии, например: водород, электричество и тд. А то экологию за месяц утечки попортили изрядно.
